Documantary Portfolio

Below is a list of documentary projects that I have created.  My work plays with the idea of humanness in the modern world and the challenges of representing reality through media.

Speaking in Code
Speaking in Code is a feature-length documentary about people who are lost in music.  Director Amy Grill follows several electronic music artists as they struggle with their passion, obsession, and, sometimes, heartbreak for the world they live in.

Edited by Jason Blanchard & Amy Grill. Download a PDF press kit here.

Busker: Portrait of an Underground Artist
"Busker" is a documentary short about Gonzalo Silva, a singer/songwriter who makes his living playing for audiences in Boston and New York train stations.

Produced, directed, edited and shot by Jason Blanchard

      Gaza Crisis in Boston
"Gaza Crisis" is a short documentary that explores a Palestinian protest in Boston's Copley Square as a microcosm for the dire and conflicted situation between Israel and Palestine.

Produced, directed, edited and shot by Jason Blanchard

        Central Square
Narrated by Mark J. Solomon, this short documentary explores the tensions between high and low classes in Cambridge, Massachusetts' Central Square. Inviting us into his world, Solomon shows us a city that doesn't know who it is or who it wants to be, a paradox between empathy and apathy in urban America.

Winner of the Hollywood Take Action Award at the 2010 Emerson Film Festival. Produced, directed, edited and shot by Jason Blanchard
